Top 5 Alcohol Based Marker for Designers
As a designer, I have tried my fair share of alcohol based markers and have come to have some favorites. In my opinion, the top 6 alcohol based marker brands are:
- Copic Markers: These are my go-to markers for any project. The color selection is vast, however I personally use the cool grays most of the time. The markers blend seamlessly, and the brush tip is perfect for achieving a variety of line widths. Plus, the fact that they are refillable makes them a more sustainable choice. The only downside is that they can be on the pricey side.
- Chartpak Markers: These markers are a good choice for artists on a budget however, I feel like I need to give you a warning here. They tend to be very smelly. But it's worth it! They have a decent color range and are known for their ability to blend well. They have a brush tip and a fine point tip, allowing for versatility in line widths. Unfortunately, they are not refillable.
Prismacolor Premier Markers: I've used Prismacolor markers for well over a decade. These markers are excellent for blending and have a good range of colors. The dual-ended design, with both a brush tip and fine point, gives you even more versatility in your line widths however they might feel a little stiff and less flexible than other brands. They are not refillable but still a great value.
- ShinHan Touch Markers: These markers have a reputation for their vibrant colors and durability. The marker itself has a more square shape to it which prevents it from rolling on the desk. The brush and fine point tips are a nice feature and they can be replaced, and the markers are refillable. The color range is good, but not as extensive as some other brands.
Motika Markers: These markers are a newer brand on the market, but they have quickly gained a reputation for their high-quality ink and wide color range. I'm a fan of the cool gray set. They have a brush tip and a fine point tip, and are refillable. They are also affordable compared to some other brands.
These were my personal top 5 alcohol based marker brands. The best alcohol based markers for you will depend on your personal needs and preferences. When making your choice, think about things like the colors available, how well they blend, how flexible the line widths are, and how much they cost.
Hopefully, this comparison helps you choose the right markers for your projects!
Keep on sketching,
